Our Approach

  • 01Shadowed climate analysts for two weeks to understand their workflow and data interpretation pain points.
  • 02Designed a data visualisation system using custom chart components that prioritise clarity over decoration.
  • 03Used Lenis for smooth scrolling through long-form data reports, keeping users engaged with narrative-driven analytics.
  • 04Iterated through four prototype rounds with actual policy-maker users to validate comprehension and decision speed.

Challenges

  • The dataset had 40+ variables — distilling this into meaningful views without dumbing it down was the central design challenge.
  • Real-time data streaming meant we had to rethink state management entirely, opting for a websocket-backed architecture.
  • Users ranged from data scientists to government officials — the interface had to serve both extremes without alienating either.

Client Feedback

For the first time, we can present climate data to non-technical stakeholders without endless explanations. The dashboard speaks for itself.
